Insurance & Coverage, Explained
Most people calling a podiatrist want one question answered first: is this covered? Here is the honest breakdown — what insurance usually pays for, what it usually doesn't, and how to find out exactly where your plan lands before you book.
What insurance typically covers
Podiatry splits fairly cleanly into two buckets, and knowing which one your problem falls into tells you most of what you need to know.
- Usually covered by insurance: your evaluation, imaging, and standard podiatric care — including diabetic foot care and most surgical procedures when needed.
- Usually out-of-pocket: laser therapy, shockwave, PRP, and regenerative injections. Most insurers classify these as elective. We offset that with transparent package pricing you see before committing to anything.
- HSA/FSA: physician-prescribed treatment for a medical condition is generally eligible — we provide the documentation.
If your foot hurts and you don't yet know why, the visit that finds out is the covered part. That is the appointment to book.

How to check your own plan
Coverage varies by carrier and by the specific plan you hold, so the only answer worth acting on is the one checked against your policy. We do that for you:
- Give us your insurance details when you book. Our billing team verifies your benefits before your visit.
- You hear the numbers up front. The financial conversation happens before treatment — not in the mail three weeks later.
- Referrals: most patients don't need one to see a podiatrist. Some plans, certain HMOs in particular, do. Call and we'll help you check.
The fastest route is a phone call: (561) 915-1934. Have your insurance card handy and we can usually tell you where you stand on the spot.
What to bring
- Photo ID and your insurance card
- A list of your current medications
- Any prior imaging or reports related to your foot problem
- The shoes you wear most — worn shoes tell us a great deal about your mechanics
