Our Approach

Corrective surgery, done with appearance in mind

Most of what people call "cosmetic foot surgery" is the correction of a real deformity: a bunion, a tailor's bunion, a hammertoe, a second toe that is longer than the big toe. These problems are visible, they make shoes uncomfortable, and they tend to get worse over time.

What makes the surgery cosmetic is how it is done. The same correction can leave a long scar across the top of the foot or a few millimetre-sized marks at the side. It can leave a toe straight but stiff, or straight and in line with its neighbours. We plan for the result you will see in a sandal, not only for the X-ray.

  • Minimally invasive technique where the deformity suits it, through incisions of a few millimetres
  • Incisions placed deliberately, along natural lines and away from where straps and seams sit
  • Toes aligned as a set, so a corrected bunion doesn't leave the second toe looking out of place
  • Scar care and swelling control after surgery, including MLS laser therapy

What We Correct

Cosmetic foot procedures

Every one of these fixes a structural problem. Your consultation decides which, if any, is right for your foot.

Bunion correction

The most requested cosmetic foot procedure. The big toe is realigned and the bump removed by correcting the bone underneath, not just shaving it, which is why it holds. For suitable bunions we use minimally invasive bunion surgery, with a few tiny incisions instead of one long one.

Most requested

Tailor's bunion (bunionette)

The smaller bump on the outside of the foot at the base of the little toe. It rubs in narrow and pointed shoes and widens the look of the forefoot. Correcting the fifth metatarsal narrows that edge of the foot and takes the pressure off.

Narrower forefoot line

Hammertoe and bent-toe straightening

Toes that curl, buckle or ride up over their neighbours, often with a corn on top. The toe is straightened through a small incision, so it lies flat in a sandal and stops rubbing in closed shoes.

Flat in a sandal

Long toe shortening

A second toe that is noticeably longer than the big toe jams against the front of the shoe, bruises the nail and tends to buckle over time. Shortening the toe evens out the line of the toes and relieves the pressure at the tip.

Even toe line

If your problem is a thin, bony feeling under the ball of the foot rather than its shape, the non-surgical Foot BBL™ restores the cushion with an in-office injection.

Your Journey

From consultation to sandals

  1. Private consultation and X-rays

A surgeon examines your foot standing and walking, takes X-rays and asks what bothers you most: how it looks, how it feels, or both. You'll hear plainly whether surgery makes sense, and what can and can't be changed.

  2. Your plan and price

You get the procedure, the expected recovery and one all-inclusive self-pay price in writing before anything is booked. If the problem is painful enough that insurance may cover it, we'll check your benefits too.

  3. Surgery

Most cosmetic forefoot procedures are outpatient. You go home the same day in a surgical shoe.

  4. Recovery and follow-up

Regular visits to check healing and alignment, with swelling control and scar care along the way, until you're back in your normal shoes.

Our Standard

Who is a good candidate?

An honest answer matters more to us than a booked surgery.

A good fit

  • A visible deformity: a bunion, tailor's bunion, bent toe or overlong toe
  • It bothers you in shoes, sandals or bare feet, or it's getting worse
  • Good general health, with any diabetes well controlled
  • A non-smoker, or willing to stop around surgery, since smoking slows bone healing
  • Able to take a few weeks of reduced activity in a surgical shoe

What we won't do

  • Operate on a healthy, pain-free foot to make it narrower or smaller
  • Shorten toes that aren't causing a problem
  • Promise a different-sized foot or a guaranteed result
  • Skip the risks: stiffness, numbness, prolonged swelling and recurrence are all discussed before you decide
Recovery

Recovery timeline

Every procedure is different; this is the usual pattern for forefoot surgery.

  • Weeks 1–2: walking in a surgical shoe, foot elevated as much as possible, stitches out at around two weeks
  • Weeks 2–6: swelling going down, short walks, back to desk work
  • Weeks 4–8: into wide, comfortable everyday shoes
  • Months 3–6: remaining swelling settles; dress shoes, heels and sandals
  • Up to a year: the scar continues to fade and flatten
Investment

Cost of cosmetic foot surgery

When a deformity causes pain or limits your activity, its correction is often a covered medical procedure, and we'll verify your benefits. When the goal is mainly appearance, insurance does not pay, and the surgery is self-pay.

For self-pay patients we quote one all-inclusive price at consultation, in writing, before anything is scheduled. It depends on which procedure or combination you need, one foot or both, and whether a minimally invasive or open technique suits your foot. Financing is available through CareCredit and similar programs.

Your Surgeons

Foot and ankle surgeons, not general cosmetic surgeons

We offer non-surgical options in-house, so there's no reason to steer you toward the operating room.

FAQ

Cosmetic foot surgery questions, answered

What is cosmetic foot surgery?

Elective surgery that corrects a visible structural problem, such as a bunion, a tailor's bunion, a bent toe or an overlong toe, with as much attention paid to how the foot looks afterwards as to how it works. Every procedure we perform corrects a real deformity; the cosmetic part is in the technique.

Is it covered by insurance?

If the deformity causes pain or limits what you can do, its correction is often covered. If the goal is mainly appearance, it's self-pay. We quote one all-inclusive self-pay price at consultation, with financing through CareCredit and similar programs.

Will I have a scar?

Any surgery leaves a scar, but it can be small and well placed. Minimally invasive techniques use incisions of a few millimetres; open incisions are placed along natural lines and away from where straps sit. Scars usually fade considerably over the first year.

How long is recovery?

Most patients walk in a surgical shoe straight away and are back in comfortable everyday shoes in roughly 4 to 8 weeks. Dressier and narrower shoes usually come last, at around 3 to 6 months, once swelling has fully settled.

Can I get foot surgery just so I can wear heels?

We correct the deformity that makes heels and narrow shoes painful, and many patients go back to those shoes once healed. We don't operate on a healthy, pain-free foot to change its shape or size. If the problem is the cushion under the ball of your foot, the non-surgical Foot BBL™ is usually the better answer.

Who performs the surgery?

Our board-certified foot and ankle surgeons, Dr. Orlando Cedeno and Dr. Isin Mustafa.
